Dharma Productions confirmed that Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt will be portraying the main leads for the movie in August 2013. This will be the second time the pair will be seen together in a movie and also with the producer Karan Johar.It was confirmed in January 2014, TV Actor Siddharth Shukla has been signed by the producers, who himself will be playing an important role for the movie alongside the main cast. This marks Shukla's debut in Hindi film industry.
